What does being healthy mean to you - really?

It’s about delivering what your body needs naturally to function optimally – good nutrition and movement can help you feel better mentally too so being healthy is important for this.

Good health also means that you are investing in your future – it’s cliche I know but without your health you can’t achieve all of the things you desire.

You can still treat yourself though – health doesn’t have to equal deprivation just moderation ( most of the time with the occasional blow out! )

It also means being able to attain a healthy weight without unnecessary stress.

PLEASE eat more plant based meals – not ifs ands or buts – research is showing that even small increases in plant based eating have many health benefits to the body and can help promote longevity.

Plant based meals tend to be higher in fibre too which means less cravings and better natural cleansing.

The cardio vascular benefits of increased fibre intake are well documented.

Eating more plant based foods is a bit like doing a little detox every day – a daily cleanse where you don’t have to stress about it.

And it’s damn good for the planet and animals too – win win!

My smoothies – I love them at breakfast particularly. I have them with plant based protein and berries usually together with a plant milk.

I always add some superfood powder to them whether that be açai or spirulina. Having things that are brightly coloured like my daily smoothie are not only good for me they make my soul happy! I’m addicted and once you start introducing more colour into your diet I think you will be too.

More energy awaits as will improved digestion and better skin – honestly, what more could you want?

Lots more smoothie recipes for weight management and anti ageing – smoothies that can help with different health conditions too. Tips on superfoods that are backed by research and information on botanicals that can help you achieve better health outcomes.

The latest in global nutritional trends as well as some fast delicious plant based recipes.

I’d like to share some of my insights into health from my years as lecturer in natural health and to answer questions on those confusing nutritional messages out there in the wider media.

 

Oh and lots of reasons to eat more plant based meals – no surprise there then.

 

Green Vegan Curry:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  •  1 tablespoon vegan green curry paste
  • 1 clove garlic
  • finely chopped
  • 1⁄4 can coconut milk
  • 1 inch fresh ginger cut in thick slices
  • cubed tofu pieces,
  • 1 chilli cut in strips
  • 1 tablespoons tamari
  • handful of peas
  • three or four broccoli florets
  • quarter an onion
  • 1⁄4 cup brown rice cooked

Stir fry all ingredients in a wok. Stir in coconut milk . Serve on brown rice when cooked.
