Welcome to the final day of Healthista’s 30 Day Yoga Challenge, with leading London yoga teacher Sarah Malcolm (@sarahmalcs), where you can learn, in detail, a different pose or aspect of yoga every day.
If you’re just joining us, click here to go to day one and see below for links to the other days in the series. Today’s video is all about learning Nadi Shodhana- alternate nostril breathing.
Alternate Nostril Breathing
Alternate nostril breathing, known in Sanskrit as Nadi Shodana is said to purify the subtle energy channels (nadis) of the body so the prana (breath) flows more easily.
‘It’s really handy if you’ve got hay fever or any allergies. It can also clear mental fog,’ says Sarah.
For this pose gently close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale through your left nostril. Then close it. Open and exhale slowly through the right nostril.
And that’s a wrap for our 30 day yoga challenge. We hope you guys have learned that yoga really is for everyone and feel inspired to take a journey into this beautiful ancient discipline yourselves!
if you’re only just joining us, yoga is a meditation that anyone can do. You don’t need a specific body type to master the practice, you just need the right skills – and you don’t need to be bendy to do it, that’s myth we’d like to dispel. Just do the moves and you’ll feel the magic. That’s what our 30 day yoga challenge is all about – jump on it today.
