Day 17 of our 30 day yoga challenge with Sarah Malcolm focuses on a pose that lengthens the entire body and builds balance – the chair pose.

Today’s in-depth pose is called Utkatasana, or the Chair Pose. This pose strengthens the shoulders, back and legs as you squat down in a seated position with your arms extended in the air.

Also called the Fierce Pose or the Awkward Pose, this move is excellent for lengthening the body.

Our 30 day yoga challenge

Each day you will be learning a new aspect to the practice, so in a month you will have learned the basic yoga poses in depth and participate in classes or do a proper sequence yourself.
