Healthista has partnered with yoga festival Wanderlust to bring you a free 30 minute Beginner’s Yoga Course, featuring leading London teacher Julie Montagu, running every Friday for the next three weeks. This week Julie focuses on the back and spine.
Julie Montagu, a leading yoga teacher whose classes are famous across the capital has many people telling her that they can’t do yoga because they aren’t flexible. But yoga is what makes you flexible, she says.
Julie’s three-week beginner’s yoga course is all about taking it back to basics (join Julie’s week 1 yoga class here) so as a beginner know you too can do yoga. Her 30 minute sequences will run every Friday for the next three weeks and are designed to teach you the breathing, the postures and the general know-how of yoga so you can go to classes with more confidence – all while giving you a great workout.
So roll out those matts and join Julie in the second 30 minute yoga sequence:
WEEK TWO: BACK AND SPINE
It’s week two and this time Julie has a sequence focusing on the back and spine. Here, the aim is to strengthen the muscles around the spine, massage and increase flexibility to your lower and upper back to keep the spine healthy and happy.
