6 fitness fashion trends we’re obsessing over

Fitness fashion trends this AW, by healthista.com (2)

This autumn, fitness fashion is set to take athleisure to new heights of both functionality and pure gorgeousness. Here are the highlights of the new autumn-winter kit we’re already lusting after

Gym to club

The summer vibes are well behind once you set your eyes on these items, taking sassiness to the next level with designs that could almost pass as nightclub attire. Metallic, cut out detail and bold prints marry to give your gym attire a little more attitude that will see you through the pumping music at your next class.

PUMA Velvet Rope Collection Premium Tights, £55

Fitness fashion trends this AW, by healthista.com

Copper metallic spirals on the sides makes a striking appearance on these PUMA leggings, which have a second skin feel for ultimate performance. With a high-waist bonded waistband, compression support and sweat-drawing materials, comfort is maximised. An iPhone pocket makes these wearable every day – these will soon become your go-to black leggings.

Reebok One Piece Studio Wear, £42.95

Fitness fashion trends this AW, by healthista.com,2

Reebok say their seamless leotard is all about minimalism, but the cut out detail is eyecatching and a statement piece you’ll never get bored of. For maximum breathability, this slim fit number has geometric cutting down the waist and on the shoulders, and a low-cut back adds glamour. This will get your yogi and dance friends super jealous.

Reebok Activchill Compression Long Sleeve Crop Shirt, £32.95

Fitness fashion trends this AW, by healthista.com

Don’t be fooled by the long sleeves – this shirt is more than capable of a hardcore HIIT session, engineered with mesh fabric to enhance breathability and sweat wicking technology to keep you cool whatever the sweat factor. The edgy print is part of Reebok’s City Series, which has been designed with the inspiration of Berlin’s bustling streets at night. We think the criss-cross really adds the wow factor to this top, flattering the waistline.

Reebok Cymatic Lux Leggings, £42.95

Fitness fashion trends this AW, by healthista.com 3

More on the casual side of prints are these moisture managing leggings featuring splatters and spirals of white speckle. Reebok have put a number of things into place to deliver leggings that move with the body during a range of exercises. The material at the back, for example, has been stitched to lay super flat to the skin to prevent chaffing when using equipment. Tight ankle cuffs and a wide waistband keep the leggings from slipping out of place and a antimicrobial gusset even keeps odour at bay – now that is fancy. Wear with the Rebel Sports bra, £24.95, complete with a racer style back, for a completed cosmic look.

Mesh revisited

Mesh is the new black, and it can be seen more than ever in the streets as well as the gym. Which means this year’s pair of black mesh panelled leggings are not going out of style any time soon. The favourite look has been modernised even more so, with fishnet material (a huge trend last summer), making it even edgier.

Hummel Poppy Tights, £45

These leggings scream ‘varsity cool’, with red, purple and navy colours. The high quality material makes them squat-proof (Healthista-speak for ‘won’t go see-through when you squat), as well as having quick drying technology. Although the mesh, running from the knee downwards is trendy, these leggings keep functionality in mind; a coin pocket and reflective tape at the back make them an all-rounder.

Lorna Jane Amelia Sports Bra, £52

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista.com2

This top could basically be worn to a nightclub. The sport luxe bra remains functional, however. Have you been wearing mesh without knowing how useful it is for enhanced air flow? Keeping you dry, the mesh panels alongside sweat-wicking fabrics mean you’ll remain dry no matter the session’s sweat factor. Padding is also removable to for maximum comfort.

NUX @ My Gym Wardrobe pullover, £60

The mesh of the Ella Pullover gives breathability and a sexy flair. Paired with a white sports bra it will make a great monochrome look, or size up to make it slouchy. A slit at the front and back keeps you from sporting the sweaty look. Buy in either black or white.

Confident in co-ord

A statement look never goes a miss in the gym and co-ordinated top and leggings are the most current way to go about it. Normally leaving the abs (or no abs) peeking through, this look is for the brave who are ready to turn heads. Never scramble around for a top to match those printed leggings again.

Bellum Turquoise Diamond, £130 together

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista (1)

The colours of this co-ord really pop, especially amongst the sea of grey colours this season. The Luxe Crop Bra, £50, is constructed using a dynamic 2-way stretch fabric from the home of fashion, Italy. The bra gives medium support, so you can style it out during boxing or Pilates. As for the Luxe Leggings, £80, Bellum have gone the extra mile to add a touch of mesh around the back for breathability. A supportive mid-rise waistband shapes the body, but the best feature is the iPhone pocket – did the workout really happen if you didn’t take a selfie?

Boudavida, £122 together

New to the scene, one-year-old Boudavida’s values inspire women, with five per cent of all sales going back into projects that support women’s and girls’ sport. They have upped their game with three co-ords in their Autumn release. They claim to source the finest of materials – soft touch, high-stretch and quick drying for enhanced performance. The prints come in leaf pattern, zig-zag print with a signature waist band. The low impact Spirit Crop, £52, is ideal for sports such as yoga and Pilates, incorporating cut out detail in the centre of the back for maximum air flow. With the chilly weather yet to come, the matching cropped Zoom Leggings, £72, are ideal.

Marble and monochrome

Marble is the subtle sister of bold geometric print, keeping you stylish without screaming for attention. The subdued design particularly looks sophisticated with black mesh. We’ve picked out our favourites.

Myprotein Loud Molten Vest, £28, and Loud Molten Sports Bra, £26

Fitness fashion trends this AW, by healthista.com 33

We can see this vest top as a staple item in our gym kit with the ability to match with pretty much anything. The racer back will show off the shoulders whilst providing maximum range of motion for those heavy duty workouts. Sweat wicking fabric keeps you dry, but is crafted with soft-yarn to keep it comfortable. This tank top will make you unstoppable.

In the new gorgeous blue hue print is also the relaxed sports bra. Its built-in moulded cups and elasticated underband give medium support, and a keyhole mesh back design keeps the skin dry. Although the branding is subtle and small on the back, its reflective material adds a glam finish.

Miss Runner Tsunami Dancer Leggings, £47

Fitness fashion trends this AW, jacket, by healthista.com33

This is marble print at it’s finest – in monochrome. The grey dance leggings feature an stirrup foot wrap to wear over the heel during workouts or dance for extra stability (but we are also thinking warmth). The high-waist also prevents movement, so these leggings are sure to not slip about. The high quality compression material is not only sweat wicking, in what Miss Runner calls a ‘supreme blend’, they are also printed in a way that ensures the colours never fade – no matter how many times you wash them.

Drop-dead gorgeous jackets

For this reason, the act of styling your gym kit as a day-to-day outfit choice is easier than ever whether you’re with the #fitfam or not. The latest addition is a killer athletic jacket to top off the look.

Ellesse Ginette Jacket, £75

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista.com

Ellesse have been creating designs such as these since their beginnings. The Ginette jacket embodies their original quilter designs from the 1970s, with polar fleece lining to keep you super warm, a zip all the way to the chin, a hood and concealed pockets for storing essentials. We love Ellesse’s designs for a sporty edge on the padded jacket – a huge trend this winter 2017 reminiscent of 90s fashion. Coming in Ellesse’s signature colours of navy or white, the fitted design ensures you’re not swamped by material. So snug!

Reebok Studio Favourites Bomber Jacket, £64.95

Fitness fashion trends this AW, jacket, by healthista.com

Rose and baby pink colours are featuring heavily this season. The feminine colour is played down in this edgy bomber jacket, lightweight and easily layered with a slightly slouched and oversized fit. It could work with any look – paired with printed leggings, with casual wear or even over a dress in a bar – the subtle shine to the fabric and metallic zip makes it an easy day-to-night look. This is an investment that will transcend across all areas.

Sweaty Betty Sublime Quilted Jacket, £135

Fitness fashion trends this AW, jacket, by healthista.com4

Effortlessly sleek, Sweaty Betty have done it again. The Sublime Quilted Jacket in black will give a masculine edge to any outfit with a loose fit, ribbed cuffs and hem. Despite being roomy, you’ll keep warm with the insulated fabric. Despite being perfect for athleisure, we think it may be too gorgeous for just the gym. Move over leather jacket, we have a new best friend.

Floral forever

News flash – floral is never going to go out of style. The feminine print has persisted through the rise of athleisure’s popularity, an effortless look that works all year round. This season’s looks have perfected it.

L’Urv Floral Funk Moto Leggings, £85

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista.com44

The retro colours in this floral print are beautifully contrasting against the black. The sassy leggings would look to-die-for with a tan and black sports bra, or just about with anything. The pin-tuck panel detail (black bits) add a complimentary flair to the look, and with high quality compression nylon fabrics, the appearance of your figure (and circulation, apparently) is enhanced.

Miss Runner Snow Petal Dance Leggings, £47, and Snow Petal Cage Sports Bra, £38

Fitness fashion trends this AW, jacket, by healthista.com33

Part of Miss Runner’s War Fit Collection, the Snow Petal print is beautifully subdued alongside a simple grey with a flattering streamlined fit. The stirrup foot wrap and waistband helps to maintain the position of the leggings, and with four-way stretch material, there are no excuses when it comes to finishing off those squats.  Designed to bring attention both in the gym and on the street, it’s hidden pocket in the waistband makes these leggings super convenient.

For a chic look, team with the Snow Petal Cage Sports Bra. The mesh detailed high neckline not only looks gorgeous, it ensures support over the chest where you really need it. Removable airlet bra pads also keep bits in place. This, with the sweat-wicking lycra will ensure the most comfy HIIT session you’ve done.

Miss Runner Bloom Madness Lace Up Leggings, £43

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista (3)

The floral print takes a back-seat with these striking lace up leggings. The added flair is flattering and different to what other chain brands are offering. Despite us thinking this garment would turn-heads in a low intensity class such as Pilates, it’s sweat-wicking fabric with compression make them suitable for high intensity too. Breathable, four-way stretch allows for maximum airflow whilst working up a sweat. We LOVE!

F&F Active Abstract Floral Print Leggings, £8

fitness fashion trends for autumn winter, by healthista.com

You would never believe how budget these leggings from F&F Active are. Floral stands the test of time with these, featuring a vintage purple print throughout. It’s simple design with an elasticated waistband and stretchy material won’t let you down, and being quick-drying they are perfect as an all round go-to pair.

High tech heros

Fabrics are more higher-tech than ever with super-compression superstar leggings and pieces containing skin- and performance-enhancing ingredients such as collagen and caffeine.

Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity Leggings, £95

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista.com335f

Forget squats – it’s bum sculpting fabrics you need. Once you see the results of Sweaty Betty’s latest Zero Gravity leggings you won’t want to take them off. Italian fabric has been used to compress the buttocks and enhance its natural shape. But Sweaty Betty say no fear – the material is still ultra-lightweight, with subtle breathable mesh around the knees. The prints aren’t too garish and could definitely work for athleisure – think a chunky knit on an Autumnal evening. Sold.

Proskins Slim Leggings, black high waisted, £59.95

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista.com335

The next 28 day challenge you do won’t be a detox tea or fitness plan – but a pair of leggings. Yep, Proskin’s latest leggings claim to slim the legs, reduce cellulite, improve lymphatic drainage, reduce fluid retention and improve circulation, when worn for eight hours a day for 28 days. The fabric contains caffeine, ceramides, vitamin E, aloe vera and retinol for collagen producing, skin moisutising and fat burning abilities. Impressive slimming results have been seen for 76 per cent of clients, but the high-performance kit is also favourited by celebs such as Vogue Williams, Lydia Bright and Mel C. Despite getting to work in 28 days, the leggings can last for at least 100 washes.

MYZONE Sports Bra, £49.99

Fitness fashion trends this Autumn Winter, by healthista.com33

A fitness tracker doesn’t get much more discreet than this one, hidden in your sports bra. MYZONE recognised that not everyone wants to wear a chunky wristband or chest strap whilst recording their heart rate, calories and percentage of effort. The gadget on the sports bra doesn’t dig or chafe, but seamlessly sits upon the sweat-resistance bra, which comes in new colours of pink, yellow and aqua in November. The MYZONE tracks your workouts and creates targets based on your personal maximum. From weight-lifting to horseriding, all exercises can be logged onto an app with several other social media like features – photos, messages with friends and music streaming connected to Spotify, Apple Music or Google Play Music. It’s also the only fitness tracker to notify when you have reached the World Health Organisation’s recommendations – now that’s a goal worth aiming for.
