Glitter Lips: we try the party season trend that Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Shay Mitchell have been showing off

Sparkle and glitz are all the rage right now, especially with Christmas just round the corner, so we’ve found these amazing glitter lip glosses to add some glam to your festive make up

Just when we thought we had perfected our liquid matte lipstick techniques we discover GLITTER lips – the ultimate look for the Christmas period that is seriosuly on trend right now.

The gorgeous Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Shay Mitchell have been showing off their glitter pouts on Instagram over the last few months, giving us total lip envy but it’s not all bad, because Beauty Boulevard founders, Rachel de Caux and Paula Short have come to our rescue with Glitter Lips – a glitter lip kit that includes a jazzy pot of glitter, a lip gloss bond and an easy to use, double-ended applicator for applying and brushing off extra glitz.

The Beauty Boulevard pair first thought of the idea in 2013 when they were fed up of having to re-apply lip gloss throughout the day and couldn’t find a lip gloss that was sparkly enough for their glitter needs.

Of course, the Healthista team had to get their hands on some of these gems and try them out, and, well, so we did.

With 16 colours to choose from it’s fair to say that we were spoilt for choice, so we just picked out some of our favourite Christmassy colours from the range to test and try for the festive season.

I had so much fun trying these out to get me in the festive mood. I picked the four colours that I thought would work well for Christmas parties and I can honestly say that I am now obsessed.

Personally, Guilty Rose was my favourite – the gold glitter on the top left – I just felt so glamourous and couldn’t stop looking at my lips dazzling in the light.

I also tried out Cherry Pie (top right) – which looked like a dark glittery pink, which I thought was perfect for those of us who love a pink lippy and didn’t want to be too daring with a bright red shade.

However for those who really do want to go all out and get noticed this Christmas, I would definitely recommend the Ruby Slippers red shade (bottom left) – if this lip glitter doesn’t just scream Christmas then I don’t know what will.

But if you’re not really feeling bright colours and would rather be an ice queen this year, Disco Kiss Go (bottom right) is a winner – a little more subtle but you’ll still get noticed, plus it would match any colour cocktail dress!

I’d definitely recommend these as a Christmas present or stocking filler for any one that loves make up, glitter and a party – I love them!

The application was really easy, you literally just take the lip gloss bond and apply it to your lips and wait for it to turn clear – don’t worry, it might seem a lot like glue but it’s perfectly fine and doesn’t affect your lips in any way, it’s really thin and light on the lips. Then you take the padded applicator, dab A LOT of glitter on and pat it on to your lips. It was so simple and so quick.

I would have thought that having glitter on my lips would feel really weird, lumpy and crunchy, but to my surprise my lips felt really soft – a bit like felt fabric, they didn’t feel dry at all – only after a weekend of trying about seven different shades were my lips were feeling a little worse for wear.

And, they weren’t joking when they said glitter lips lasts all night and were kiss proof and food and drink proof. It didn’t budge at all, even when I tried to take it off with a make up wipe, so at least you know you’re guaranteed sparkly lips all night long (eventually, after the second go it did come off but believe me, they won’t move).

I posted my new sparkly lips on my social media and got so many messages saying how cool they looked, from both boys and girls so I’d definitely recommend these as a Christmas present or stocking filler for any one that loves make up, glitter and a party – I love them and the pictures really don’t do them justice, they look AMAZING in real life.

You can buy Glitter lips from beautyboulevard.com or at Supedrug for £12.50 each.
