Looking for summer running gear? Lisa Buckingham gives Lululemon Athletica’s new Lucent Run range a road test
I tested the:
There’s also a jacket available in the range.
As mentioned in previous reviews, I’m a serious overheater when I run. I return from even a 5k with my face the colour of a sunblush tomato. So this new range is right up my street because all of its features are aimed at keeping you cool and ventilated. The loose fit, dropped arm holes and mesh detail in the tank top and the shortness and wicking fabric of the shorts enable you to go out for a run with as little clothing on as is decent, with maximum airflow.
I would usually opt for a pair of cropped running tights in the summer, not being a fan of teeny tiny shorts that ride up, but these are nicely designed with a soft waistband, four-way stretch and a wicking inner insert that stays firmly in place when running.
The floral stitched design is made from reflective thread, so you can be seen in the dark. Summer kit often doesn’t feature this as the mornings and evenings are light, but I often wait until after dark to run in the summer (the heat thing again), so I appreciate this detail.
If you like stylish kit with a bit of prettification that also performs technically, look no further.
