Healthista caught up with Susan Dyson, inspiration behind the brand, to find out for ourselves what Hiitgirl is all about.
The Hiitgirl ethos is simple – to give every woman the best possible workout in the shortest possible time, without having to camp out at the gym.
Founded in 2011 by the unbelievably fit Susan Dyson, each workout they offer is 30 minutes long, and is typically divided in two with 15 minutes for ‘muscle moves’ and 15 minutes for ‘meta moves’. Work and rest intervals are changed regularly to prevent the body from settling into too comfortable a plateau, with a split of either 30 seconds on and 30 off, or 40 seconds on and 20 off.
Muscle moves, such as planking and squats, work areas like the biceps and quadriceps, while meta (metabolic) moves are more about cardio.
With its high intensity and fast-set pace, Hiitgirl definitely isn’t easy, but it is a lot of fun, and is great for toning muscle, burning fat and keeping bones strong.
The brand recently launched a new workout programme called ’30 Girl’, which involves taking measurements as a benchmark before undertaking 12 Hiitgirl workouts in 30 days. The results have been superb, with girls reporting losses of between seven and nine pounds on average in weight, and between five and eight centimeters on average around the waist.
