What’s the best advice your mum ever gave to you? For Mother’s Day, we took to the streets of London and found out exactly that
Mother’s Day has rolled around again and what better way to celebrate this special day of female parenting than to remember all the best bits of advice that your mum ever gave you. From research conducted on over 2000 people, One4all found that 43 per cent of Brits consider their mum to be their best friend and one in four of us speak to our mums every day. It’s safe to say that our mums play a pretty important role in our lives, dishing out both love and advice.
Thinking back to when I was young I remember three stand-out pieces of advice given to me: do not mess with your hair, you can do anything you set your mind to and finally, if anyone kicks you, kick them back twice as hard (she’s a pretty feisty woman).
Our mums often provide a source of inspiration for us, and as we age we appreciate them more and more, often passing on their pearls of wisdom to our own children – or maybe just wishing we’d listened to their advice.
What is the best piece of advice your mum ever gave to you? We headed to Carnaby street, London, to speak to local Londoners and tourists alike and find out what their mothers taught them. From saving money to ‘doing anything you like but only tell me about it afterwards,’ we heard it all.
