Can a Lymphatic Drainage Massage improve digestion and bloating?

Can a Lymphatic Drainage Massage improve digestion and bloating MAIN SLIDER

Is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage the key to reduce bloating and improve digestion? Healthista visits Dimple Amani clinic to see if it really works and how

You may stressed out and running at one hundred miles per hour, but if you’re prone to bloating or have a sluggish gut, it’s best not to let stress get the better of you.

Over-stressing is bad news for your gut and can can adversely effect digestive function, worsening symptoms of bloating and stomach discomfort.

Evidence from clinical and experimental studies show that psychological stress (acute or chronic) can have a marked impact on intestinal sensitivity and bloating.

Indeed, for those who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrone (IBS), stress is considered a key cause of IBS symptoms, suggesting that whatever is going on in your mind could be having a direct impact on your gut health.

psychological stress (acute or chronic) can have a marked impact on intestinal sensitivity

A 2014 review in the World Journal of Gastroenterology authors reported that, ‘More and more clinical and experimental evidence has showed that IBS is a combination of irritable bowel and irritable brain’.

Despite the evidence, reducing your stress is easier said than done, and a bloated gut only adds to your stresses right? Especially when a healthy diet and regular exercise doesn’t seem to be doing the trick.

Well Healthista has a short-term and rather relaxing fix for you to try (while your sorting out those stress levels of course). Oh and don’t worry it doesn’t involve laxatives or even colonic irrigation for those who would rather not opt for an invasive treatment.

In fact the answer is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage.

So what is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Our lymphatic system contains vessels and nodes with lymph, that’s a mixture of protein, water, waste products and other immune system elements. Located throughout the body, lymph nodes are what filters all these elements through our body.

The largest nodes are in the neck, groin, and armpits. They all work together to make sure a ‘clean’ lymph is transported back to the veins that carry blood towards the heart.

The lymphatic system is a part of your immune system, therefore a lymphatic massage helps the body maintain proper blood circulation, body fluid balance, and promotes healthy immune function.

Think of it as cleaning your pipes and getting rid of that built up waste in your system.

Not only are you promoting total body relaxation but you are also massaging your lymphatic system, especially the parts around the abdomen to stimulate and drain the water retention and bloat away and out of the body.

This treatment is particularly fantastic for those experiencing bloating or extra puffiness caused by water retention, however the benefits from this treatment are great for anyone as the therapists hands will stimulate any areas that require attention.

It is also fantastic for more severe conditions such as, lymphedema, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and chronic venous insufficiency.

What are the benefits?

  • Circulation booster
  • Flush out toxins
  • Glowing skin
  • Easy digestion
  • Improved immunity
  • Reduces bloating and water retention

The experience first hand…

With so many massage options and outlets that offer a lymphatic drainage massage, how do you know which one is right for you?  Luckily, Healthista has done the not so hard work for you and experienced first hand the latest and most advanced techniques available at Dimple Amani.

A hidden, tucked away treatment clinic in Pimlico, London, Healthista tried out The Amani Method – a detoxifying, functional, sculpting lymphatic drainage massage that not only uses two hands but four, for ultimate restoration and relaxation.

a unique combination of Brazilian and Ayurveda techniques, with transformative and instant results

As you step into her holistic, spiritually in-tune room, it’s as though you are stepping into a Moroccan style oasis that teleports you to a far away land of tranquillity and relaxation. You feel an instant rush of escapism from the outside world.

Amani took me through the treatment plan, explaining the process and tools that are used throughout the treatment.

Amani’s method, utilises the power of Ayurveda from the products to the treatment itself.  It hosts a unique combination of Brazilian and Ayurveda techniques, with transformative and instant results.

These techniques clear energy blockages, trapped emotions and flush out water retention, improving digestion. The process is very holistic, yet functionally purposeful.

The treatment covered a combination of techniques: facial and body sculpting/shaping, lymphatic drainage, abdominal sculpting and an Ayurveda Indian head massage.

Armani brought in her extremely well trained assistant to work on my body along with her. I’ve never had four hands working on me simultaneously, as Amani started on my face, her lovely assistant started on sculpting and shaping my legs.

Armani’s fingers on my face felt like multiple hard to soft soothing strokes, really working into the muscles and releasing all tension from my jaw. It literarily felt like she was working with 20 fingers rather than ten.

The whole experience was blissfully relaxing throughout

The assistant working on on my legs, was performing similar movements to help cleanse, drain and heal. I could literally feel the toxins and water weight being worked out of my system.

When Amani finished with my face she moved onto my head, giving me her Ayurvedic Indian head and shoulder massage. The whole experience was blissfully relaxing throughout.

The ladies finished off with with my arms and my abdomen being last. By this point my whole body was in a state of holistic bliss – I was very close to falling asleep. Amani gave me her miracle tea as I sat up and came back to my senses and back to reality.

How I felt in the days after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, other than being in a relaxed state, I definitely felt lighter. I couldn’t notice anything in the mirror when focussing on my bloating but I hoped that the next day I would see some results.

The next day I saw just that – nothing too obvious – however, my stomach felt firmer and looked flatter when I turned to the side.

Over the next few days my bloating was significantly reduced, however I would recommend a few sessions to really get things moving and to see more lasting results.

If you are feeling fatigued, stressed and are suffering from excessive bloating that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere then you must give this treatment a try.
