At the weekend I’ll make lemon and cardamom pancakes

What she eats…

What do you eat in a typical day? ‘It varies day to day depending on what I’m doing’, says Woodward. ‘On a weekday, I’ll go for a big bowl of creamy porridge with almond butter and berries if I’m at home, or a super quick chia seed breakfast if I’m running out the door first thing’, she says. ‘At the weekend I’ll make lemon and cardamom pancakes or smashed avocado toast with lemon and chilli’, says Woodward.

‘For lunch I tend to eat leftovers, I’m always recipe testing so I tend to enjoy whatever is left in the fridge’, Woodward says. ‘I’m a big snacker too’, says Woodward. ‘I love things like homemade trail mix with almonds, raisins, coconut and vanilla it’s so delicious’, Woodward admits. ‘The almonds add a great crunch, whilst the other ingredients add a lovely sweetness’, she says.  ‘For dinner, I love big warming bowls of things like creamy veggie curries with coconut and spices with brown rice,’ Woodward reveals.

Let’s talk exercise

I love yoga, pilates, boxing, spinning and weight lifting

‘During the week I try to do something most days, I find it really calms me and puts me in a positive frame of mind for the day’, Woodward says. ‘I love yoga, pilates, boxing, spinning and weight lifting and tend to do a mix of them all,’ Woodward tells Healthista.

‘I’ve recently run a half marathon, so spent most of my time focusing on improving my running endurance, which was tough’, Woodward reveals. ‘Now that’s over I’m taking it a bit slower and doing more yoga and Pilates,’ she says. ‘I find both yoga and pilates awesome at calming my mind and strengthening my body,’ Woodward says. ‘I’ve found getting moving and keeping fit a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, boxing is another way to get out your frustrations of the day,’ she tells Healthista. We’re huge boxing fans too, so will definitely vouch for you there.

Do you have any post-workout snacks? ‘I always need a snack after though as it’s so intense, so I go for a big handful of nuts or energy balls filled with things like almonds, dates and cacao’, she reveals. Ella has teamed up with the Almond board to make some tasty snacks.

Secrets to flawless skin

the way you eat makes a massive difference to how your skin looks

Woodward’s skin always looks so flawless, what’s her secret? ‘I have a pretty simple routine and focus on natural skincare and makeup as much as possible’ admits Woodward. ‘I really like using only natural products when possible’. Are there any other skin secrets she swears by? ‘Yes, the way you eat makes a massive difference to how your skin looks so it’s always worth thinking about eating healthier’, she reveals. ‘Eating lots of greens are great for getting a natural glow’, Ella reveals. ‘I also try to drink loads of water and herbal teas to stay hydrated’, she says.

Is a cheat meal on the cards?

Your lifestyle is so healthy, do you ever have a cheat day? ‘I don’t believe in the concept of a cheat day, as I don’t think food should ever be associated with guilt in that way’, Woodward asserts. ‘Healthy living isn’t about deprivation, it’s about finding an enjoyable, sustainable way to live your life instead and balance is absolutely a part of that.’ ‘I do have a sweet tooth and love sweets treats and on occasion do manage to eat the whole tray of my desserts, especially when I’m recipe testing,’ she admits. ‘I try to do more natural twists on the treats though and use things like honey, maple syrup and medjool dates instead of white sugar’, Woodward reveals. ‘I’m always thinking of fun recipes to create healthy treats, my sweet potato brownies were a real hit with my readers’, she says. Pre-wedding cleanse? Yes or no…

So let’s talk weddings; will she be following any cleanses or detoxes pre-wedding? ‘Not really, I’m all about taking care of yourself all the time’, Woodward says. ‘Although I’m trying to make sure I work out four or five times a week as it makes me feel so good,’ she reveals.

Favourite recipes from the book?

‘The quinoa and turmeric curry is my favourite, it’s so warming and comforting’, Woodward says. ‘I love the chocolate ganache cake too, it’s so good and filled with great ingredients from almonds to raw cacao and even some sneaky avocado, I promise you can’t taste it’, she laughs.
