The rise of convenience vitamins

A new service makes your vitamin collection completely portable by bringing you a month’s supply of everything you need in handy daily sachets – genius, says Anna Magee

Most Healthistas will know the story. We workout. We work hard in stressful jobs. We have busy social lives and demands on our energy and time. We probably don’t get all the nutrients we need from food. So we take supplements. If you’re anything like me, you probably take a lot of supplements. I take Co-Enzyme Q10 for energy, high-dose omega-3 fatty acids for my brain health, chlorella for my liver, glutamine to fuel my muscles, 5-HTP for my mood, vitamin D3 because like so much of the population I am deficient and iron and B-vitamins because I am vegan and don’t eat meat or eggs, which are the best sources.

When I eat breakfast neither at home or in the office, I get no supplements because my vitamin boxes aren’t portable

If I eat breakfast at home, that’s fine. I have all the bottles stacked up on the bench top so I down one from each with my breakfast smoothie. Trouble is, I eat breakfast at home maybe, hmmm…twice a week? So I have had to get more bottles of all my vitamins to keep at work. As for the times I eat breakfast neither at home or in the office, I get no supplements. The worst is travelling when I have to stop taking my supplements altogether because carrying all those bottles overseas will use up precious baggage weight I need to fill with shopping! Plus, all those bottles on the bench top take up so much space and kind of ruin the look of my kitchen worktop…

As I often say, from making your workout work in with your life to getting access to a bunch of kale when you need it, being healthy is all about logistics. Now a new service has solved not only the problem of that ever-growing supplement supply’s lack of portability but also made it possible to fulfil all your vitamin needs from one online store.

ConVits deliver your vitamins to you packaged in single, vacuum-packed sachets that each contain one day’s supply. I know, genius right?

New ConVits – short for Convenience Vitamins – allows you to order all your vitamins online and they deliver them to you packaged in single, vacuum-packed sachets that each contain one day’s supply. I know, genius right?

Just launched, the company was founded by two friends, personal trainers Miles Bailey and Matt Peake who both discovered that their own vitamin supplies were like mine, ever-growing and becoming more difficult to handle in everyday life. They saw a gap in the market for personalised vitamin packs and so ConVits was born.

Here’s how it works. Log on to convits.com where you can take the easiest option and choose to browse ‘pre-packs’ which are ready-made mixes of vitamins for certain needs. For example, if you’re after weight loss, you pick the weight loss pack, which costs £24.24 and contains a 28 day supply of essential vitamins and minerals that have been proven to aid weight loss such as Conjugated Linoleum Acid (CLA), Co-Enzyme Q10 and Green Tea Extract along with multivitamins and omega-3 fatty acids. Other pre-packs available are for common problems as bones and teeth, digestion, fitness and one for low mood, stress and sleep.

The second option is to browse by ailment. Say you’re after more energy, beauty or bone health, click on the ailment and find out which vitamins are associated with it and order them all separately. The final option is to browse A-Z, which is the one which will suit those of you who already know what you want but are looking for the convenience of having it all packaged in separate sachets. For example, order your magnesium, your calcium, your multi and so on. Whatever option you choose all gets packaged into little daily sachets that contain everything you need and can be thrown into your handbag.

you can also order by ailment and browse what to take for example for bone health or beauty

When I visited the website, I opted for the women’s health pack which contained essentials such as a multivitamin and vitamin C but also extras such as evening primrose oil proven to help PMT and gingko and ginseng for energy. I placed my order, punched in my credit card details – currently Healthista readers can claim a 50 per cent discount, click here to claim your code – and I received my month’s supply of vitamins the next day.

As a vitamin junkie, I am hooked on the sheer ease that this brings to my routine. I keep them all at home and when I am travelling, pack a supply or throw one in my handbag for days when I am having breakfast at the office or out. It’s the future.
