Feeling bored in your job? Restless? Dissatisfied? Feel like you’d like to make a difference to the world as well as yourself? Caroline Sylger Jones tells you about a brand new transformative journey through India that might just help
How about an altogether different ‘spa’ experience – a transformative coaching break that could have a seriously positive impact on your life. I went on a week-long life coaching holiday with The Big Stretch in Spain a few years ago to help me get back into my creative writing, and was lucky enough to have Rosie Walford on my week, founder of The Big Stretch, who turned out to be a warm, vibrant and down-to-earth psychologist and coach with creative tricks that got me thinking genuinely differently. It was a very human trip that woke up my brain up and got me going again.
Now I’ve heard she’s running a trip to India from 24 January to 1 February 2014 in conjunction with another talented soul, Richard Alderson, Co-Founder of Journeys for Change. Rosie and Richard have helped hundreds of people make meaningful career shifts during their careers, and their adventurous trip looks set to be an uplifting, immersive experience that will rejuvenate your soul and fast-track your future towards more fulfilling work.
So what’s it all about? This time, rather than just being about you, it’s about you, your work, and your position in the world. As Richard explained to me: ‘If you’ve been thinking for a long time about doing more meaningful work, this is your opportunity to do something about this, while also discovering stunning India. You’ll meet inspiring change-makers, explore the different ways to make an impact in the world and get coaching to figure out where you fit.’
The eight day trip will take you from Ahmedabad – home of Ghandi himself (it was him, of course, who said: Be The Change You Want to See’) – to the bustling metropolis of Mumbai, and then to a lush seaside retreat in Goa to reflect and make your action plans. You’ll stay at heritage properties along the way, and at the end of the journey, there’ll be a chance to relax at a resort, do yoga and have spa treatments – naturally. On your return, you can opt for networking help from a coach who is an authority on the UK social innovation scene.
The eight day journey costs £3150 with an early-bird price of of £2,850 valid until 31 October. It’s based on two people sharing and includes food, career change facilitation, internal travel costs, project donations, study materials and tourist activities that are part of the journey. It’s not cheap, no – but it’s sure to be life-changing.
