New device measures calories you eat through SKIN!

Imagine a wearable device that measures the calories you burn by reading glucose levels through your skin. New crowdfunding campaign from Indiegogo aims to raise money for the manufacture of GoBe which could make it so

The original pioneer of crowdfunding, Indiegogo aims to help entrepreneurs, inventors and artists raise money to realise their potential and ideas.

GoBe measures your calorie intake and displays it on the handy app.

With $790,005US already in the kitty, the team behind GoBe have raised near eight times their $100,000 target and there are 22 days still to go.

The device, worn on the wrist, automatically measures calorie intake through your skin by reading the levels of glucose in your cells, and comes with an accompanying smartphone app which then shows calories burned and consumed, activity, hydration, sleep and stress levels.  Unlike other activity monitors, it won’t require you to log what you eat and drink or input any information relating to activity or exercise.

The mobile app comes with a device that has a digital display and is worn on the wrist.

GoBe is also waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about taking it off for swims or showering. Its digital display allows you instant access to your body’s data, and it charges within the hour to last for about three days of typical use.

Sound like a pipe dream? The company behind it Healbe revealed a living, breathing and fully functioning prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show in January this year. With the Indiegogo money they claim they’re going to start manufacturing them immediately sp the product is ready to launch this summer. Watch this space.
