How to make a natural homemade face scrub

How to make a natural homemade face scrub, clean beauty co, by healthista (3)

In the last of the DIY beauty series with Clean Beauty Co, they share their natural homemade face scrub recipe for a summer glow – it’s good enough to eat

It’s official – microbeads were banned in beauty products in the UK last week, hurrah!  The tiny beads made of plastic are commonly found in face scrubs, shower gels, toothpastes and exfoliators. But putting a serious threat on the environment by being washed down the sink, the government have taken action two years after Barack Obama banned them in the US.

With this in mind, how about cleaning up your own skincare regime? Clean Beauty Co, founded by Elsie Rutterford and Dominika Minarovic, make beauty products at home with nature’s ingredients. For the past four weeks, they have been sharing their easy natural beauty alternative recipes in Healthista’s DIY Beauty series.

For the last video of the series (watch more in the link below), the girls share a face scrub made with ingredients that are not only natural, but most likely already in your cupboard. According to the girls, these ingredients will contribute to a healthy summer glow.

They explain that good quality honey is antibacterial and rich in antioxidants, which is the key to blemish-free skin. Ground almonds are gently abrasive, making them a great gentle exfoliator. Rich in AHAs, lemon will gently peel away dead skin cells, revealing fresh skin underneath. Olive oil is anti-ageing; it is largely constructed of anti-oxidising vitamin E, which restores skin smoothness and protects against ultraviolet light. Hydroxytyrosol, a rare compound found in olive oil, prevents free radical damage to the skin. This baby is going to leave you gleaming!
