Inspiring runways spanning across the past few decades, Wimbledon is an iconic time not only for the sporting world but for the athleisure world too. From the corseted female tennis players of the 1900s to women like Katharine Hepburn ditching the dresses and donning high-waisted shorts, the fashion of tennis has come a long way.

Every year we’re inspired by the amazing strength, skill and determination of the women at Wimbledon and what better Kitspiration is there than that?

Adidas by Stella McCartney

And to kick things off, what better than Stella McCartney’s new collection for Adidas which launches this autumn. The high-end Barricade Wimbledon collection which will be worn by the women on the court themselves. Wimbledon has long-established restrictions on colour and this collection compensates by focusing on texture and finish.

McCartney studied vintage lingerie for inspiration and the result is a gorgeously elegant tennis range that is classicly simple but with a modern feel. World number seven, Garbiñe Muguruza, will wear the Adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade dress in white at this year’s tournament. ‘I love to experiment with my style on and off the court but it can be difficult to express your personality at Wimbledon. The combination of different textures makes my dress really stand out; one of the reasons I am really happy to be wearing Adidas by Stella McCartney,’ explained Muguruza.

The clothes will make a debut at Wimbledon but unfortunately, most of them won’t be available to buy until Autumn – here’s a sneak peek of the collection.

The Barricade dress is a 3-in-1 design (above) and features a textured look, crafted through blending different knitting techniques. Climacool material enhances the body’s natural temperature regulation – basically making it the perfect fabric to play in, in the unpredictable British weather.
