Summer is here (hurrah!), and the healthy leisure scene is taking advantage of the beautiful weather with woodland festivals and new season fitness motivation. Check out what’s coming up for your Healthista diary.

June 30th– July 2nd: Also festival

What is it?

Nicknamed the ‘TED talks in a field’, Also Festival focuses on all thing science, philosophy and anything artsy. Over three days in the countryside, inspiring discussions will be held by big influencers (such as Dr Danny Dorling and Psychiatrist David Nutt) on topics ranging from the meaning of dreams, Brexit one year on, ancient mythology and psychoactive substance laws. DJ’s and live music will entertain, and with a Truth or Dare theme overrunning the festival, people will be encouraged to get involved with everything from wine tasting to cabaret, extreme song lyric bingo and rave yoga. A small festival where big thinking will be involved.

Tuesday 4th July: Charity Reebok Be:Fit Ministry Does Fitness

What?

Reebok have teamed up with Be:Fit (the summer fitness festival) to take over Ministry of Sound in association with Ministry Does Fitness, for a one day festival of fitness. The event will feature appearances and classes by high profile influencers from Reebok’s newly formed ‘Girl Squad’ (all to be revealed the day before). The best part is all the ticket sales from this event will be donated to British Red Cross to support those affected by the recent Manchester Arena and London Bridge attacks.

In the morning, three yoga classes will run, at lunchtime there will be two 45 minute HIIT classes, and in the evening a brutal class inspired by the music of a pop legend. All classes are followed by a refuel meal and shakes, Q&A with the Girl Squad, complimentary hair braiding and an exciting goody bag.

July 6th – 8th: The Honest Garden

What is it?

Organic drinks brand Honest will host a pop up garden with a series of classes and workshops in a serene and green sanctuary. Fancy a 7am morning yoga or Pilates session overlooking the River Thames? Fierce Grace and Lottie Murphy will be running classes as the sun rises. Wholesome lunches made by Savage Salads are up for grabs, as well as a one-off cooking class with YouTube star In The Kitchen With Kate. And keeping within the green theme, Grace and Thorn will be running terrarium-making workshops – cute!

Sunday 9th July: WomenOnly Triathlon for Breast Cancer Care

What?

Sponsored by Shock Absorber, the WomenOnly Triathlon is a multi-sport day where you can pick the challenge best suited for you. There are seven triathlons to chose from, starting with a First-Timer Wave (200m Swim, 5.3km Bike, 2.5km Run £40) to an Olympic Triathlon (1500m Swim, 42.4km Bike, 10km Run £79). If the tri part scares you off, you can sign up for a duathlon or even just a 5K run. There is something for everyone, and all in the name of fundraising for Breast Cancer Care.

12th and 27th July: John Lewis celebrates wellbeing with Neom Organics founder, Nicola Elliott

What?

John Lewis and Neom have teamed up to offer some exciting workshops. The events, at John Lewis Oxford St and Peter Jones, Sloane Square, will be hosted by a panel of wellbeing experts, including Nicola Elliott, founder of therapeutic fragrance brand Neom Organics. Each event will culminate with Neom’s signature Scent Discovery Workshop, where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a Neom Signature Scent Discovery personal consultation, using essential oils to reveal each person’s underlying wellbeing needs – whether that’s better sleep, less stress, more energy or a mood boost. You’ll also take home a goodie bag.

Thursday 13 – 22nd July: Summer ‘PipNics’ with Pip & Nut

Think delicious nut butter on tour. Pipnics is Pip and Nut’s nutty take on the traditional picnic, where they shall be serving up a taster of its all-natural nut butters throughout each day in the form of granola breakfast pots and open sandwhiches. You’ll be thankful for the refuel if you chose to take up an exercise class with leading studio Frame, who will be on-hand for all your fitness needs. They shall be running  yoga classes and hula sessions in their classic fun-filled energetic style.

What?

Canadian activewear brand Lululemon’s one day festival is back for a second year with every workout under the sun. The fitness landscape of London is rapidly expanding, and there’s no better way to try what the top studios are offering, such as Barry’s Bootcamp, Breathe Studios, Frame, Heartcore, Kobox, My Pilates, Neat Nutrition, Psycle, UN1T and Xtend Barre. A whopping 140 classes will be running with 7500 spaces.

The marketplace, beer garden and tasty food vendors will replenish you after a workout. Alongside this, motivational talks will be held by inspiring people such as Jody Shield, author of LifeTonic and Annie Clark of Mind, Body, Bowl. Lululemon’s innovative Om the Move meditation bus will also be making its appearance.

What?

Festival go-ers rejoice. Fitness and music can combine, and they will at brand new festival Lovefit. Set in a beautiful forest over three days, dancing in the wilderness to some of the UK’s hottest DJ’s and dance acts alongside blood pumping spin or scenic yoga is sure to get you loose. You can spend the morning working out, the afternoon participating in fun tournaments and competitions or spa relaxing, and then an evening partying to the beats of Groove Armada and Danny Howard. This will be sure to raise the endorphins if not paddleboarding yoga on a lake or Muay Thai overlooking the Kent Downs.
